Common questions
- What is backed up?
- Products, collections, pages, blogs, articles, navigation menus, URL redirects, metaobjects, metafield definitions, files, shop settings and policies. Themes, orders and customers are not. You can switch any type off in Settings.
- Where does file content go?
- The details of each file, such as its name and alt text, go to your repository. On a paid plan, the images and videos themselves are also copied to storage Git Sync manages at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (self-hosted MinIO on the app server). On Free, only the details are saved.
- How do I restore something?
- Open the item under Browse & restore, or under Deleted items if it was deleted. Pick a version and choose Restore. The restore is committed to your repository like any other change.
- What happens when I uninstall?
- Backups stop at once. Git Sync removes what it holds about your store, including file copies, within 48 hours. Your repository and its history stay as they are.
- How do plans limit the backup?
- Each plan covers a number of items per type, an amount of file storage and how often changes are saved. Items over the limit wait until you move to a bigger plan. Restoring is never limited. The Plan page in the app shows your usage.
- How do I leave with all my data?
- Your repository already holds every record, so it stays useful without the app. File copies can be downloaded one at a time from each file’s page before you uninstall.
